The most stunning Moroccan wedding blanket I’ve ever personally laid eyes upon, we’ve christened this special piece Malika (Arabic for “queen”), for surely the lucky bride was a women of some wealth and stature to warrant such an amazing piece. Measuring 50” x 74”, this handira glimmers thanks to more than 11,000 sequins- each lovingly handsewn. The blanket features cream wool with white stripes and is finished with 4” crocheted fringe. It’s also a wonderful example of Moroccan kilim work- with insets of orange, pink, green, yellow and black. Any movement of the handira brings a pleasant cascade of audible jingles as the sequins react to movement. This is a vintage blanket in excellent condition…a rare opportunity to own a piece of authentic Moroccan history.

The purchase of this product directly supports talented craftsmen in Morocco. In addition, this single purchase enables From Morocco, With Love to install a freshwater well in a local community. Even in this modern age many rural areas in Morocco still don’t have access to fresh water. The absence of access inhibits life in many ways: it contributes to the spread of disease, hinders the ability to grow fresh food and limits productivity as hours are spent each week traveling to procure water. The gift of a well means happier, healthier children and greater food sufficiency. A single well can provide clean water to many families.
